Latest Forecast: Snow, Heavy Rain, Strong Winds for Newport
Thunderstorms and power outages are possible Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.
A winter storm was barreling toward Newport Saturday night.
The National Weather Service said there will be a light coating of snow that will quickly turn to rain. The storm will also bring wind gusts of up to 40 mph.
NWS issued a wind advisory for most of Rhode Island through 7 p.m. Sunday. There’s also a chance of some thunderstorms Sunday. NWS said power outages are possible.
