Local Shop Gives Away Free Comics

Every year on the first Saturday in May, comic book stores across the country celebrate Free Comic Book Day. This past Saturday, locals made their way to Annex Comics on Broadway to load up on their favorite stories and marvel over some incredible talent.

“It is a language that is underutilized and an art form that is unappreciated sometimes so we try to bring awareness to its importance,” said Wayne Quakenbush, owner of the comic book shop, which is in its tenth year of celebrating the giveaway.

The schedule for the afternoon was packed with guest appearances from well-recognized illustrators and animators and even brought a casting call for local production Watching You. Ghost Hunters actress Donna Lacroix also made an appearance.
