It was lots of fun and they were super easy to make. Â When we pulled them apart the cheese was stringy and soft and the outer crust perfectly crispy.Â

To make your own Amazing Mozzarella sticks you will need mozzarella cheese, flour, an egg, Panko bread crumbs and some oil. Â We fried our sticks in a pan but I bet you could bake them just as easily.
Â
First we sliced a chunk of low fat mozzarella into strips about 1/2" wide and 4" long. Â You have to flash freeze the cheese strips for 30 minutes so they don't turn into a gooey mess when you cook them. Â We chose to freeze them before breading but you can also do the breading first.
Â
Using three bowls we rolled the mozzarella sticks in flour, then egg and finally in the bread crumbs. Â We seasoned the bread crumbs with parsley but I think they could have used more seasoning, salt, pepper, parmesan and garlic salt. Â
Â
After the sticks are rolled placed them in a shallow pan. Â Preheat the oil so its good and hot. Â I used olive oil. Â The trick is to get the pan to the right temperature so the mozzarella sticks come out golden brown. Â We have a gas stove and used med-hi. Â
Â
And that's it!
Â
We served these sticks with marinara sauce. Â I would like to try them with some more peppy spices like cayenne pepper to give them some heat. Â Mozzarella is such a cooperative and mild cheese you could really spice these with anything. Â I think I might even make a dessert mozzarella stick and spice it with cinnamon. Be creative and enjoy!
