Man Arrested for Smashing Cousin's Windshield in Sperry Topsiders
Shoe prints on the hood of the car matched William Perry's Sperry Topsiders, police said.
A man who climbed up onto the hood of his cousin’s car and stomped on the windshield Thursday night has been arrested for domestic vandalism.
It all started Thursday evening at around 7:40 p.m. when a woman who lives in Coddington Point Condos reported that her cousin had just busted her windshield.
Officers began looking for their suspect: William Sharone Perry, 31, of 27 Salmon St., Providence, who allegedly showed up at his cousin’s apartment drunk and wanted to be let inside.

The cousin rejected his request, telling him that he was not welcome in her apartment in such an intoxicated state.
The woman told police that Perry was angry and repeatedly knocked on her door.

He eventually gave up knocking and she watched him as he walked around the corner of the apartment building and stood there for several moments.
He then turned towards her newly purchased 2005 Mazda 6, police said, which worried the victim, who went into her apartment to see what might happen through a window overlooking her parking spot.
She then watched him climb onto the hood, walk to the windshield and then stomp on it, creating a large fracture break.
Police noticed a distinct shoe pattern on the hood of the Mazda from dirt on the soles of the suspect’s shoes.
A short time later, as officers were checking areas where Perry is known to spend time, a patrol officer saw Perry walk out of a Spring Street address and get into a car. The car was stopped and he was taken into custody a short time later.
Police took a look at the bottom of Perry’s shoes -- a pair of Sperry Topsiders -- and the pattern matched the imprints left on the victim’s hood.
Perry was held for arraignment Friday.
