Man Carrying Knife on Broadway Arrested for Felony Assault

Police said the 52-year-old Meeting Street man got angry when another man looked at his knife on Tuesday afternoon.

A 52-year-old Meeting Street man was charged with felony assault with a dangerous weapon Tuesday afternoon after he allegedly became confrontational towards another man on Broadway.

According to a police report, Frank T. Michaels, 52, of 15 Meeting St., was arrested shortly after 1 p.m. for the alleged incident.

Police said officers were dispatched to Broadway in front of the police station after the incident. Michaels reportedly was walking down Broadway holding a knife when the victim was walking by and looked at the knife.

The victim told police that Michaels “became extremely angry when he realized [he] was looking at the knife and stepped towards him in a threatening manner.”

Michaels then kept walking towards him and said “you got a problem?”

The victim got out of the way and called 911.

Michaels reportedly was carrying a knife in his pants pocket when police searched him. It was described as part of a silver multi-tool with slanted holes in the handle.

Police said both the victim and MIchaels appeared intoxicated.

Michaels was held for arraignment Wednesday morning.
