Man Charged After Kicking Down Woman's Door

Newport Police charged Alexander Lee Morgan, 33, of 35 Exeter St., Providence, with domestic breaking and entering and narcotics possession, both felonies, Saturday at 3:12 a.m.

Police said Morgan kicked down the door to a Spring Street apartment after the woman he was staying with wouldn’t let him back in following an argument.

Police arrived within seconds of the door being kicked open, according to a police report, and Morgan was taken into custody without incident.

Officers found about a gram of cocaine in a small plastic bag while searching Morgan at police headquarters.

He was later released on personal recognizance and is due to appear in Second Division District Court on Feb. 5 for an attorney general conference.
