Man Charged with Domestic Assault
Police said Kyle DeMarche, 23, of Charlestown, was arrested in Newport for allegedly hitting a woman in the face while in his truck.
Police charged Kyle DeMarche, 23, of 30 North Ave., Charlestown, with domestic simple assault early Monday morning.
Police said DeMarch struck a woman in the face during an argument he drove with her in his pickup truck at around 2:30 a.m.
Police got a call for a report of a man and woman arguing in front of 12 Channing St., according to a police report.

The victim had a swollen cheek and told police that DeMarche grabbed her and struck her after refusing to pull over to let her out of the truck.
DeMarche initially denied hitting the victim, according to a police report, but eventually said that he he had elbowed her after she started slapping and hitting him as he was driving.

DeMarche was taken into custody without incident and held for arraignment in the morning.
