Minor Damage at Castle Hill Inn after Fire, Nobody Hurt

Restaurant will be closed for the weekend but should open on Sunday.

A spokeswoman for Castle Hill Inn on Ocean Drive said damage was minor and nobody was hurt after a fire in the kitchen Friday afternoon.

"Castle Hill Inn addressed the situation immediately, and all guests were safely evacuated and and relocated to the property's waterfront beach houses and harbor houses," she said in an e-mail message.

The fire was extinguished shortly after firefighters arrived and there was "very little damage to the property."

Castle Hill Inn remains open, but the restaurant will be closed on Friday and Saturday and is expected to reopen on Sunday (March 16).

Firefighters were called to the scene shortly before 1 p.m.

Firefighters said they battled the blaze, which started in the kitchen, for nearly 30 minutes before it was extinguished.
