Mother's Day Road Race Honors Moms Everywhere by Supporting Migraine Research
The Association of Migraine Disorders and the Wickford Sailing Association host Mother's Day Road Race

Looking for a fun and compassionate way to celebrate the mom in your life this Mother’s Day? Then lace up your running shoes and register for the Association of Migraine Disorders’ first annual Mother’s Day Road Race – a running event featuring both a 10-mile race and a 5k race in support of migraine research. The races – scheduled for Sunday, May 10, starting at 9 a.m. – will take place rain or shine at the North Kingstown Golf Club in Quonset Business Park, and will include the new scenic Allen Harbor bike path and a finish to free food, prizes and live music overlooking the golf course.
Interested participants are encouraged to register for the races in advance of race day, at discounted rates, at MothersDayRace.com. Registration is also available at 7 a.m. on race day. All ages are welcome.
Hosted by the Association of Migraine Disorders and the Wickford Sailing Association, the Mother’s Day Road Race aims to generate awareness of migraine disorders and the need for increased research to help put an end to the debilitating condition, which affects an average of 37 million Americans. With 70 percent of all migraine sufferers being women, the Mother’s Day Road Race will also pay tribute to moms who suffer from this condition.

“Migraine disorders affect 12 percent of Americans—and chances are, a mom in your life suffers from this condition,” said Dr. Frederick Godley, president of the Association of Migraine Disorders. “With so many people impacted by migraine disorders, it’s vital that we raise awareness of this condition and advocate for increased research that will help more people lead migraine-free lives. The Mother’s Day Road Race is a fun and engaging event that encourages the community to band together against migraine disorders while celebrating the remarkable mothers and migraine sufferers in their lives.”
Another way to team up with the Association of Migraine Disorders to create more buzz about migraine disorders and the need for increased research is to join Team Migraine – either as an athlete or a supporter. Through a one-year membership, Team Migraineathletes receive branded Team Migraine performance shirts to wear at races and athletic events – some of the fees for which members are reimbursed. For those preferring to take on supportive rather than competitive roles, Team Migraineperformance shirts can be purchased to raise funds for research and to show support for the migraine community. About the Association of Migraine Disorders
Founded in 2012, the Association of Migraine Disorders is a Rhode Island-based nonprofit organization that provides reliable information to migraine sufferers, educates healthcare providers and funds migraine research with the aim of improving the diagnosis and treatment of migraine disorders. The Association was established by otolaryngologists (ear, nose and throat doctors) who recognized that people suffering from migraine disorders exhibit many neurological symptoms beyond headaches that are often overlooked – leading to misdiagnoses and mistreatments and causing unnecessary suffering and economic consequences for millions. Through a unique emphasis on coordinating and consulting with experts from other fields of medicine, the Association intends to unify these related symptoms into one broad, single diagnosis of a migraine disorder.
