Need the Heat? Here are the City's Official Warming Centers and One Adult Homeless Shelter
The police department has a list of warming centers, if people need a place to go during the day.
NEWPORT, RI—The centers are open only during the day. The only adult overnight shelter, the McKinney Shelter, has six beds for women and 19 beds for men. Newport police say the people left out can go to the Police Station on Broadway for assistance.
Statewide, the number to call for emergency homeless shelter is 2-1-1. However, people who encounter a homeless person and are concerned can call the police for help.
