NEWPORT, RI — Newport's Gooseberry Beach is once again safe for swimming, the Rhode Island Department of Health said. The same day, Charlestown's Camp Watchaug was closed for high bacteria levels.

Gooseberry Beach was closed late last week along with several others in Rhode Island, following a day of extremely heavy rain.
