Bike to Work Day is an annual event held on the third Friday in May all around the world promoting bicycling for daily transportation. Here in Newport, we’ve been celebrating Bike to Work Day since 2011. The whole day is filled with bike-related fun! All activities take place in Washington Square – the historic center of Newport.
This year, the dedicated “Park ‘n Bike” lot is located at Bike Newport’s offices at 437 Broadway. You can park, hop on your bike, and pedal one mile into town to Washington Square for the Bike to Work breakfast before continuing to your workplace.
It’s always an amazing day, and we encourage everyone who can to leave the car home and hop in the saddle – it’s fun, healthy, invigorating AND makes us more happy and productive. Give it a try and see what you think. Maybe it will become a habit. We hope so!
