Newport Bridge Lane Closure Schedule: August 4 to 8

NEWPORT, RI — This week marks the end of this year's first phase of construction on the Newport Pell Bridge. Here's when to expect lane closures on the bridge this week.

The right lane will be closed on both the east- and westbound sides of the bridge from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. from Monday through Friday.

On Sunday, Monday and Tuesday night, the right lane will be closed on both sides from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. On Wednesday and Thursday night, the left lane will close on an alternating schedule during the overnight hours.

Starting next week, the second phase on construction will begin, closing one lane until the end of the year. Crews will rotate the closures to keep two lanes open on the eastbound side during the morning commute and two lanes open on the westbound side during the evening commute.
