Newport Bridge Lane Closure Schedule: July 28 to August 3

NEWPORT, RI — As August approaches, the first phase of this year's construction on the Newport Bridge is coming to an end. Here's when to expect lane closures on the bridge this week.

From Monday through Friday, the right lane will be closed on the westbound side of the bridge from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The right lane will be closed on both sides of the bridge during overnight hours from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. from Sunday though Thursday. During that time, the left lane will also be closed on the eastbound side only during overnight hours.

Starting in early August, one lane will be closed until the end of the year. Lanes will be shifted to keep traffic moving during peak hours, with two lanes in one direction and one in the other.
