Newport Bridge Lane Closures Announced For May 16

NEWPORT, RI — Lane closures will be in place on the Jamestown and Newport bridges throughout the day on Thursday. The westbound lane of the Jamestown bridge will be closed until the afternoon, while alternating lane closures will be in place throughout the day on the Newport Pell Bridge.

The westbound right lane of the Jamestown bridge has been closed since 6:30 a.m. and will reain closed until 2 p.m.

On the Newport bridge, the left westbound lane as well as the high speed and open lanes of the tolling station were closed at 8 a.m. and will remain closed until 3 p.m. Meanwhile, the left lane on the eastbound side as well as the high speed and open tolling stations were closed at 9 a.m. and will be closed until 3 p.m. The right lanes will be closed on both sides of the bridge for overnight construction from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m.
