Newport Couple Wins $35,000 in Lottery
She "repeatedly reread the ticket even though her husband insisted they won."

A Newport couple cashed in a winning $35,000 lottery ticket recently and promptly went shopping for bathroom fixtures.
The Rhode Island Lottery Commission said in a release that the couple, who asked their names not be released, claimed the winning Monopoly Millionaire’s Club ticket after the wife bought it following a hunch.
“She was feeling lucky and as a result, purchased the ticket at a local retailer,” the commission said.

The ticket was bought at Bucci Combination Store LLC at 1&3 Thames St., in Newport.
The wife wasn’t sure she won right away, “especially since the amount seemed too substantial to be true.”

The couple told the lottery commission that they plan to use a large portion of their win to renovate their bathroom.
“In fact, upon leaving the Lottery Headquarters, they intended on shopping for some bathroom fixtures,” the commission said.
Also claiming a prize recently was a ”lively” Providence woman who walked into lottery headquarters praising God as she cashed a $12,000 Patriots instant ticket.
The woman stated that when she realized she had won she was overcome with emotion; she recently had to sacrifice overtime pay at work to care for her daughter. She plans to utilize the money won to help her daughter as well as other friends and family in need. She already called “one of her dear friends” and told her to expect a check in the mail.
She won $50 on a $2 ticket from the same retailer, Ocean State Market at 341 Dyer Ave., a week before.
