NEWPORT, RI — Governor Gina Raimondo, Newport Mayor Jaime Bova and other state officials gathered in the Newport Monday to officially open the city's new innovation hub. Sheffield Elementary School has been transformed into Innovate Newport, a place where entrepreneurs can gather and work.

The hub is the result of a collaboration between the city, the Economic Development Foundation of Rhode Island and the Newport County Chamber of Commerce's nonprofit division, the Newport County Development Council. The $8 million renovation project transformed the historic school building into a space with areas for coworking, private offices and meeting spaces. Individual members or already-established businesses can become members and rent workspaces.

There are several options and levels of membership which range from a single-day walk-in for $35 to a full-time co-worker for $275 per month.
