Newport Holding Fall Recycling Day At Easton's Beach

Come get rid of household hazardous waste, rigid plastic, E-waste and more on September 28.

NEWPORT, RI — Newport residents looking to get rid of those hard-to-dispose-of items can do so at the city's Fall Recycling Day at Easton's Beach. Everything from household hazardous waste to E-Waste to rigid plastic can be safely recycled at the event on Sept. 28.

Rigid plastic and bulky item recycling is open to Newport residents only. Residents can drop off up to two bulky items per household, with a six-item maximum for those who own several houses. Appointments must be made in advance by calling 401-845-5617. When calling, provide your name, address and items that you will be dropping off. Please make all appointments before 12 p.m. on Sept. 27. On the day of the event, proof of residency will be required.

The event will run from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the beach located at 175 Memorial Blvd. E-waste, household hazardous waste, rigid plastics and bulky items will be accepted. Common examples of each category are listed below.

Household Hazardous Waste

  • Oil-based paints
  • Fluorescent light bulbs, both long tubes and smaller, "curly" bulbs
  • Gasoline
  • Disinfectants
  • Used motor oil (less than 10 gallons) and filters
  • Propane tanks
  • Anti-Freeze (Less than 10 Gallons)
  • Batteries (Rechargeable & Long-lasting)
  • Sharps and needles
  • Anything labeled with "poison," "flammable," "toxic," similar words or a skull and crossbones.

E-Waste
