Newport Hospital Sees More People During Heat Wave

NEWPORT, RI — Newport Hospital's emergency room saw 6 percent more visitors than average during this week's heatwave.

According to data provided by Newport Hospital's Emergency Department Practice Management, the average daily number of people seen in the emergency room is 99. During this week's heat wave, the average daily number was 105 people.

According to the Emergency Department, Heat often affects other conditions, but heat related illness might not be the primary diagnosis.
