NEWPORT, RI — Third Beach in Middletown and Easton's Beach in Newport are back open to swimming, the Rhode Island Department of Health announced over the weekend.

Easton's Beach was reopened Friday night, followed by Third Beach Saturday afternoon. Both were closed earlier in the week due to high bacteria levels in the water.

For the most up-to-date closure information, call the department's prerecorded beach line at 401-222-2751.
