Newport, Middletown, Tiverton Beaches Reopen
Just in time for the weekend, three Rhode Island beaches have been reopened to the public.
NEWPORT, RI — Just in time for a the first weekend of summer, three Rhode Island beaches have been reopened to the public. On Friday afternoon, The Rhode Island Department of Health announced bacteria levels are once again at safe levels at King Park Beach in Newport, Grinnell's Beach in Tiverton and Peabody's Beach in Middletown.
At this time, Sandy Point Beach in Portsmouth and Spring Lake Beach in Burrillville are still closed to swimming due to high bacteria levels.
"RIDOH will continue to monitor and review beach water quality regularly to ensure safe bathing throughout the summer season. The status of a beach may change on a daily basis," the department said in a release.
