Newport To Offer Free Pickleball Clinics

NEWPORT, RI -- Pickleball, an easy paddle sport, is gaining in popularity, and Newport has brand spanking new courts in Hunter Park.

To help newcomers pick up the game, the recreation department is offering four free 10 to 11 a.m. clinics on Sept. 17,21,22 and 24. Equipment is provided, and people can attend one or all four sessions. "This program is designed to teach the Pickleball basics to someone totally new to the game," according to Brigid Lynch Rubin, the senior clerk at the recreation department.
