Newport Police Charge Man With Sexual Assault

NEWPORT, RI — Police arrested Zachary Henson, 32 of Middletown early Friday morning on first degree sexual assault charges.

Henson was arrested at Chapel Terrace while Newport Police Officer Michael MCCabe was investigating a separate incident. Police said Henson matched a description police got from a 30-year-old Newport woman's assault complaint. The woman was undergoing treatment at Newport Hospital.

Henson was arraigned in District Court Friday and did not enter a plea. He is being held without bail at Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranston. Henson is scheduled to appear in court again on September 18.
