Newport Police, Fire Raise More Than $3,400 In Charity Softball Game
The charity game also brought in 250 canned goods for local food banks.

NEWPORT, RI — Newport police and fire took to the softball diamond last week and raised thousands of dollars for local nonprofits in a charity game.
The game at Cardines Field on Sept. 27 had spectators bring either canned food donations or monetary donations for the Hillside Charitable Foundation and the Three Angels Fund.
In total, 250 cans of food were collected and donated to the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center and the Salvation Army.
