Newport School Committee Candidates to Appear at Oct. 15 Forum

Meet the candidates and hear them answer questions.

The Alliance for a Livable Newport (ALN) will hold its third public candidate forum of the 2014 election season featuring your candidates for the Newport

School Committee.

The forum will be held on Wednesday, October 15, from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm at the Pell School Cafetorium, 35 Dexter Street.

Candidates for School Committee will introduce themselves and answer questions on the key issues facing the Newport public schools. The forum will provide an opportunity for voters to hear the candidates’ positions on these issues and their ideas about the future of our schools.

Joseph Grady, Senior Fellow at the Pell Center for International Relations and Public Policy will moderate the Forum.

ALN will also be holding two additional forums on the various state and local ballot Issues:

- On Oct. 22nd at 6pm at the Community College of Rhode Island, there will be a forum addressing Questions #1 and 2 on the November 8th ballot regarding State Constitutional approval authorizing Casino gaming in Newport.

- And on Oct. 28th at 6pm at the Newport Public Library the final forum will address the remaining state and local ballot issues.

All forums will be videotaped and appear on the ALN website and COX
