Newport Woman Wins $20,000 after Wickford Clerk's Suggestion

Candace Jenkins of Newport hit the jackpot recently.
Jenkins, who always buys her lottery tickets at Wickford Mini Mart on Boston Neck Road in North Kingstown’s Wickford village, usually buys $2 or $3 tickets.
Recently, the clerk working behind the counter had a suggestion: why not try one of those $20 ”Lucky Times 20” games?

Jenkins did and moments later, she was holding a $20,000 winning ticket.
Jenkins said that she’ll use the winnings to pay some bills, according to the Rhode Island Lottery Commission.
