Newporters -- What Do You Want in the Next City Manager?

A public forum on Tuesday is planned to give residents, community groups and business owners a chance to sound off with recruiters.

A good city manager is responsive, well-educated, has experience in municipal issues, can handle a budget, a team of department heads and can demonstrate strong leadership both from a perch in City Hall as well as out on the street.

That’s obvious.

What isn’t obvious are the unique needs in Newport that the city’s next manager will face and there’s no better person to raise those issues that you, a Newport resident, business owner or member of an important civic group.

On Tuesday night, a public forum will be held at the Newport Public Library for Newporters to offer that insight to members of Randi Frank Consulting, the firm hired by the city to conduct the executive search for a new city manager.

Randi Frank Consulting wants “input on the qualities and attributes that citizens feel are important for inclusion in the compilation of the City Manager position profile,” according to a release.

A questionnaire to solicit input/submit comments will be available through Thursday, February 26, 2015 via the City’s Engage Newport microsite: http://engagenewport.com/ and comments may also be sent directly to the City’s consultant via email at: randi@randifrank.com
