Obituary: Barbara W. Carr, 88

Barbara W. Carr 88, of Portland OR, and a long-time resident of Newport R.I. passed on Tuesday, October 21, 2014. She was the widow of the late Francis Patrick Carr. Born on June 5, 1926 in Portland, Oregon, she was the daughter of the late Sherman and Ethel (Nolan) Warren. She worked in California for the F.B.I where she met her husband and then settled in Newport. After raising her family she worked for the International Tennis Hall of Fame for many years where she retired.

During her life she was active with the Mosaic Club, and served as past president during her tenure. She was also involved with the Townsend Group as well as a long-time Member of Hazards Beach. She enjoyed traveling with her friends and family. She was also an avid gardener and could be seen often in the front of her house tending to her flowers.

She is survived by her three children Francis Patrick Carr III, of Atlanta GA, Maryann Carr Toppa and her husband Bruce Toppa of Jamestown R.I. and Jared Warren Carr of Newport R.I. and also Doreen Carr, wife of her late son Caleb Bond Carr. She leaves four grandchildren, Cameron Bond Toppa, Carson Warren Toppa, Sarah Elizabeth Carr, and Diane June Carr.
