Obituary: Caroline T. (Evans) Clarke, 76

Caroline T. (Evans) Clarke, 76, of Newport, died Monday, December 8, 2014 at Grand Islander Health Care Center Middletown, RI.

She was the wife of Francis A. Clarke.

Born in Newport, RI on September 23, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Caroline (Olaynack) Evans.

She attended Hazard Memorial(St Joseph’s School) and St. Catherine’s Academy.

Mrs. Clarke worked for several years as a CNA. She was a sponsor for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Mrs. Clarke was a founder of PPMS Post-Polio Myelitis Syndrome Group of Rhode Island.

Besides her husband of 59 years, she is survived by her daughter Janice Killian of Las Vegas, NV, her sisters, Charlotte Beni of Tempe, AZ and Elaine Cook of Dover, DE, two grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

She was the mother of the late Francis S. Clarke Jr., Caroline Clarke, Susan Clarke, and Linda Clarke.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday December 10, 2014, from 4-7pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday December 11, 2014, at 9:00am, from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am, in St. Joseph’s Church, Broadway, Newport.

Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery, Brown’s Lane, Middletown.
