Olive T. (Moniz) Escobar, 91, of Newport, RI, died on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Mass General Hospital in Boston, MA.

Olive T. (Moniz) Escobar, 91, of Newport, RI, died on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Mass General Hospital in Boston, MA.
Born in Portsmouth, RI on September 10, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Joseph F. and Maria (Pacheco) Moniz.
Before retiring, Mrs. Escobar worked as a presser at Egan’s Dry Cleaners, Goodwill Dry Cleaners and Polo Dry Cleaners for over 50 years.

She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Clayton and her husband, Johnny Clayton, Jr., of Jacksonville, FL, and Brenda Escobar and Maryanne Rosario, both of Newport, RI; her sisters, Evelyn Santos of Middletown, RI and Ethel Crotteau of Newport, RI; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Jesse Moniz, Joseph Moniz, Jr., Theresa Warner, Grace Perry, Emily Lowden and Gloria Medeiros.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2015 from 4-7 pm in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.
Her funeral will be held on Monday, January 12, 2015 at 8 am from Memorial Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am in St. Lucy’s Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown, RI.
Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the James L. Maher Center, 120 Hillside Avenue, Newport, RI 02840.
