Parents, don’t pull your hair out.

The wheels on the bus are turning now. Your children are back in school. It’s time to get them organized. But, ask yourself, are you organized?

If you want your child to be organized, then you need to model the behavior you want them to emulate. Organization is a family effort.

Step one: Take just a half an hour each week to discuss events, projects, appointments at a mealtime on the weekend. Everyone can share the responsibility of remembering.

Step two: Create a family calendar. Green can be school work that is due. Blue can be appointments. Red can be family or church activities.

Step three: Don’t give up on the previous two suggestions. You will not become organized overnight. Your children will see you involved in this mutual project, and they will eventually fall in line.
