Police Charge Man with Underage Alcohol Possession

Police charged Daniel Paul Cleveland Perez, 19, of 234 Hillside Ave., Newport, with possession of alcohol as a minor Monday at around 8:03 p.m.

Police said Perez was a passenger in a car that was stopped for speeding on Pond and Sheffield Avenues.

Once stopped, police said Perez showed signs of intoxicated and admitted to drinking earlier in the evening.

He was issued a municipal court summons and released at the scene.

Police charged Devon McNeal, 18, of 20 Chapel St., Newport, with a warrant Monday at 10:04 a.m.

Police said McNeal was wanted on charges of domestic simple assault and violating a domestic protective order.

Police said an officer on patrol saw McNeal walking on Brodway near City Hall. He was taken into custody without incident.
