Police Find Pit Bull that Attacked 5-Year-Old, Dog will be Euthanized Tomorrow

Police said the dog sent the boy to Hasbro Children's Hospital with more than 100 puncture wounds.

Police have found the dog that police say attacked a five-year-old Newport boy, causing more than 100 puncture wounds and sending him to Hasbro Children’s Hospital.

The dog, which was scared off by a pipe wielding parent, reportedly took off after the attack and was later found by the Newport Police Department’s Animal Control Officer at around 1:42 p.m.

The dog was sitting on the steps of 160 Park Holm -- near the scene of the attack -- and was taken to the Potter League for Animals pending a viscious dog hearing, said Newport Police Lt. William Fitzgerald.
