Police Log: Domestic, Shoplifting, Warrant
The following arrests were reported by Newport police. They do not indicate a conviction.
DOMESTIC
Police charged Ralph Clifford Williams, 58, of 53.5 Gould St., Newport, with domestic simple assault and two warrants on Saturday.
Police said they were dispatched to a city apartment after a report that Williams was baning on a front door and refused to leave.
Police said he allegedly hit a woman during a confrontation.

SHOPLIFTING
Police charged Robert Eugene Bishop, 21, of 16 DeBlois St., Newport, with shoplifting Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
Police said Bishop attempted to steal a pack of batteries from the Connell Highway Walmart.

Police said Bishop was seen by a loss prevention employee as he put a pack of batteries into his pocket and left the store without paying.
WARRANT
Police charged Tonya M. Abdildaev, 46, of 15 Meeting St., Newport, with a warrant Sunday at 3:56 p.m.
Police said Abdildaev was intoxicated in front of the Newport police station on Broadway at around 3:56 p.m. She was taken into custody after officers learned she had a warrant for failing to appear for a pretrial conference on Feb. 18 for a trespassing charge.
