Police Log: DUI, Woman Kicks Cop, Walmart Shoplifter
The following arrests were reported by the Newport Police Department. They do not indicate a conviction.

DUI
Police charged Edward Arthur Phair, 36, of Winsted, Conn., with driving under the influence, driving without a license and refusing a chemical test early Thursday morning.
Police said they got a tip that a black pickup truck was on Thames Street with people drinking alcohol inside. A few moments later, an officer saw the truck, which was being driven by Phair, take a turn onto Hammond Street without using a turn signal.
Once stopped, the inside of the truck smelled like alcohol and found five occupants.

Police saw several open and unopened Bud Light Lime beer cans on the passenger floorboard along with a twelve pack of beer and a bottle of wine.
Phair failed a field sobriety test, police said, but he reportedly insisted that he only had one drink.

Phair was held overnight and was due to be arraigned on Friday.
In addition to the DUI charges, police cited Phair with a summons for failing to use a turn signal.
Police also charged Avrielle Pilat, 31, of Mesa, Az., with disorderly conduct, obstruction of justice, resisting arrest and simple assault after she reportedly began screaming at an officer at the scene.
Police said Pilat was combative towards police, yelled loudly enough to disturb nearby residents and struggled with police who had her removed from the vehicle.
Police said Pilat flailed about inside the truck as she was handcuffed and removed. She then kicked an officer while being escorted to a police cruiser, according to a police report.
The three other passengers in truck were reported to be cooperative and were released at the scene.
WARRANTS
Police charged Jessica Anne Gomer, 33, of 195 Admiral Kalbfus Road, Newport, charged with a warrant Thursday at 5:45 p.m.
Police said the warrant was for failing to appear for arraignment on a charge of narcotics possession.
Police charged Jose Louis Jackson, 25, of 8 Gladstone St., Providence, with a warrant and obstruction of justice Thursday at 2 a.m.
Police said Jackson was wanted for failing to appear at an ability to pay hearing for a prior charge and gave police a false name when they responded to Bayside Village Apartments on Third Avenue earlier in the evening.
Police charged Laura Fe Ramos. 33, of 90 Girard Ave., Newport, with a warrant Wednesday at 6 p.m.
Police said the warrant was for failing to appear for an ability to pay hearing stemming from a prior misdemeanor shoplifting charge.
TRESPASSING
Police charged Darryl E. Pattus, 25, of 45 Lincoln St., Cranston, charged with trespassing Oct. 2 at 5:02 a.m.
Police said Pattus returned to a Chapel Street apartment after he had already been told to stay away from.
SHOPLIFTING
Police charged Oneka Michelle Ardrey, 34, of 50 Park Holm, Newport, with shoplifting Wednesday at 2:15 p.m.
Police said Ardrey concealed items in her purse and failed to pay for everything she took from the shelves, scanning only a few items at the self-checkout lane before leaving.
The total value of the items she shoplifted was $137, police said.
