The following arrests were reported by the Newport Police Department.
CUT OFF
A 25-year-old Newport woman was arrested for simple assault and resisting arrest Sunday night after she became irate when multiple bars refused to serve her alcohol due to her intoxicated state, police said.
Newport police arrested Yolonda Olivia Stedford, of 20 Chapel St., Newport, at around 10 p.m. after she allegedly spit at an officer and became unruly as the officer tried to escort her out of Cappy’s Hillside Cafe.
Stedford had gone into Cappy’s after she was asked to leave Nikolas Pizza when she became extremely intoxicated and disrupted, according to a police report.

An officer was dispatched to Nickolas Pizza upon request after the bartender was concerned that Stedford would become argumentative after she was cut off.
The officer reported that Stedford left without incident but was unsteady on her feet as she made her way to the next establishment. The officer, from his police cruiser, watched Stedford as she went into Cappy’s.

A short time later, a bartender came out and asked the officer to remove Stedford due to her intoxicated state.
The officer reported that Stedford refused to leave, swore at the officer, and then grabbed his cote, pulling him towards her.
“You’re cute,” she said, before wrapping both of her legs around me in an attempt to pull the officer closer.
The officer then “removed Stedford from her seat and placed her into handcuffs,” according to a police report.
She then became verbally combative and once outside, began spitting at the officer, kicked him and resisted arrest.
Police eventually got Stedford to police headquarters where she was held for arraignment Monday morning.
BOTTLE THROWING ARREST
A man wanted for throwing a bottle at a Third Street apartment earlier this month was arrested on Sunday.
Police said Brandon Mitchell, 22, of no permanent address, threw the bottle on March 14.
Newport Police got a warrant for Mitchell’s arrest after an investigation and he was arrested by the Rhode Island State Police on Sunday.
He was transferred to Newpot Police on Sunday afternoon and was held for arraignment.
DOMESTICS
Police charged Christopher M. Jacobs, 36, of 24 Tilden Ave., Newport, with domestic disorderly conduct and domestic failure to relinquish a telephone Sunday at 11:25 p.m.
Police said Jacobs knocked over several items and refused to leave a woman’s apartment after an argument.
He was held for arraignment Monday morning.
Police charged Robert Boatner, 24, of no permanent address, with felony domestic assault by strangulation, resisting arrest and a weapon law violation Saturday at 6 p.m.
Police said Boatner grabbed a woman by the throat and threatened her during an argument.
Police said Boatner fled the scene after they were dispatched to Bayside Village Apartments, where the incident occured.
Boatner ran out a back door and climbed a fence but eventually stopped and gave up as officers followed.
