Police: Man Assaults Woman, Man Rummaging Through Mailboxes had Three Warrants
Newport police reported the following arrests on Tuesday.
DOMESTIC
Police charged Dion Ardrey, 38, of 109 Park Holm, Newport, with domestic simple assault and violation of a no contact order Tuesday at 2:20 a.m.
Police said they were dispatched to a city apartment after a report of an altercation.
Ardrey allegedly shoved a woman during an argument.

Police said Ardrey also dropped a bag containing 4.5 grams of marijuana in view of an officer at the scene. As a result, he was cited for marijuana possession.
Police said there was also a no-contact order barring him from contacting the victim.

He was held for arraignment Wednesday morning and released on $2,000 surety bail.
THREE WARRANTS
Police charged Dayle Lamont Harden Sr., 50, of 15 Meeting St., Newport, with three warrants Tuesday afternoon after a report that he was rummaging through mailboxes at several different houses near Warner and Broadway.
Police located the suspect, identified as Harden, walking on Broadway and he soon admitted to going through mailboxes.
Harden said he was trying to find his daughter’s house so he was checking for names.
Police arrested Harden after a check showed he had three active warrants, one each out of Sixth Division District Court, Second Division District Court and Superior Court.
He was held overnight to appear in court Wednesday morning.
