Police: Newport Man Arrested after Posting Child Porn to Twitter

Kenneth Adamczyk, 33, was arrested Thursday after he allegedly posted child pornography to Twitter.

A 33-year-old Newport man has been charged with possession and transfer of child pornography after he allegedly posted pictures to Twitter.

Kenneth Adamczyk, 33, of 10 Braman St., Unit 2, was arrested Thursday following a raid at his apartment following an investigation that began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children alerted the state police about the Twitter posts.

The State Police’s Computer Crimes Unit/Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force began an investigation and traced the source of the Twitter posts to Adamczyk’s apartment Internet connection.

Police seized digital media, laptops and cell phones for further examination.

Adamczyk was arraigned in Second Division District Court in Newport by Judge Colleen Hastings. Bail was set at $10,000 with surety and he has been ordered not to contact children other than his own. He was also ordered to stay off the Internet.

Police said there’s no indication of any inappropriate contact between Adamczyk and minor children at this time.

A person found guilty of the charge of child porn possession can be fined $5,000 and sentenced to no more than five years in prison. A conviction of transfer of child pornography can result in another $5,000 fine and a prison sentence up to 15 years.
