Positively Newport Schools to Present Alternative Pell School Designs

Positively Newport Schools will hold a public workshop this weekend, featuring alternatives to the current Pell Elementary School design. The group hopes to give the public “food for thought” and inform the community about alternative possibilities that it says will save "at least $4 million dollars."

The workshop is scheduled for this Sunday, Dec. 11, at 1:30 p.m. at the  

The group will offer a presentation of alternatives to the official design "that has potential for significant cost savings and can prevent the radical cuts envisioned by the Newport School Committee."

Constructive comments and input are encouraged and welcomed. The second part of the workshop will offer a discussion of alternative bidding and construction procedures that are necessary to bring the Pell School project back in line with budgetary and schedule requirements.
