Recalled: 4C and Cento Grated Cheeses
The state health department says people who bought the affected cheese should throw it out or return it to the market.

PROVIDENCE, RI–Several varieties of 4C grated cheeses and Cento grated cheese are under voluntary recall, the state health department said today.
According to spokesman Joseph Wendelken, 4C Grated Cheese, Homestyle Grated Cheese, and Cento Grated Cheese may have been contaminated with Salmonella.
"This recall is of a nationwide distribution," he said, "and includes the following products, which were packed in 6 oz. vacuum-sealed glass jars, with BEST BY dates between November 12, 2016 and November 12, 2018 and packaged in cases of either 6 or 12 jars per case:

Other 4C Foods products, including any other cheese products, are not affected by this recall.
Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy people infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses.
