RI Prosecutor Suspended 6 Months For Threatening Cop In Viral Video Back To Work
The Rhode Island Assistant Attorney General had pleaded no contest to trespassing.
NEWPORT, RI — The Rhode Island Assistant Attorney General suspended for six months without pay after she was caught on video threatening a police officer has returned to work.
Devon Hogan Flanagan, 35, was arrested with friend Veronica Hannan after causing a scene outside a Newport restaurant in August.
Police were called to Clarke Cooke House on Bannister's Wharf after officers in reference to patrons "refusing to leave," according to a police report.

Police body cam video shows Flanagan not only refusing to leave, but also informing officers they would not take her into custody.

"You're not going to arrest us," Flanagan said, to which Hannan, added, "She's a f------ lawyer, so she knows," the video shows.
The police did end up arresting both Flanagan and Hannan, a resident of Westport, Connecticut. But not before Flanagan reminded officers that she was an assistant attorney general, repeatedly telling them, "I'm an A.G."

In addition to ensuring the police were aware that she was an assistant attorney general, Flanagan let the officer know that he would be sorry for placing her under arrest.

"Buddy, you're going to regret this," a handcuffed Flanagan said from the backseat of a squad car, the video shows, getting in a few more words before an officer shuts the door on her.
After Flanagan was placed in a squad car, Hannan cursed officers and resisted her own arrest.

The video shows Hannan slipping a wrist out of the handcuffs before she was subdued to a degree and manacled again, as well as screaming hysterically and calling out to a man on the scene, saying, "No, babe, babe, I'm scared," and, "This is so inappropriate."

An officer at one point the officer asks Hannan, "What's wrong with you?" the video shows.
Flanagan, who is listed in court records alternately as Devon Flanagan Hogan and Devon Hogan, pleaded no contest to willful trespass within days of her arrest.

She was sentenced to a six-month filing and was barred from the Clark Cook House.

In addition to her legal woes, Flanagan was placed on a six-month unpaid leave by her boss, Rhode Island Attorney General Peter F. Neronha, who said in a statement she "mistreated the Newport Police Department and embarrassed herself, the Office, and frankly me."
The unpaid leave ended with Flanagan returning to work Monday, attorney general spokesman Timothy Rondeau said in an email.
