RI Gas Prices Steady: Hurricane Could Raise East Coast Prices

Rhode Island gas prices as of late have been two cents higher than the national average.

Gasoline prices in Rhode Island have been steady at around $2.89 to $2.90 for the last month a reportreleased Monday from AAA Northeast said.

Prices however may rise soon. AAA said it's likely Hurricane Florence will impact gas prices on the East Coast.

“A storm like this typically causes an increase in fuel purchases in the market and a slowdown in retail demand. Motorists can expect spikes in pump prices to be brief, but possibly dramatic,” said Jeanette Casselano, AAA spokesperson in a press release. “AAA will continue to monitor the storm and will provide updates."
