RI Health Department: All Blue Green Algae Advisories Lifted
The blooms have gone, due to cold and lack of sunlight, the health department said.

NEWPORT, RI — The last of the advisories about blue-green algae have been lifted, the state health department said, as winter has helped to kill the blooms in the once-affected bodies of water.
The last four advisories were for:
- Blackamore Pond, Cranston
- Spectacle Pond, Cranston
- Almy Pond, Newport
- Roger Williams Park Ponds, Providence
According to the state health department, "the advisories had cautioned people to avoid contact and recreational activities with these bodies of water. Blooms of blue-green algae, also known as cyanobacteria, can produce toxins that are harmful to humans and animals."
