RI Weather: New Forecast Shows No Snow This Week

A change in the forecast means that Rhode Island is no longer expected to see its first snowfall of the season this week. As of Wednesday morning, the National Weather Service is predicting a rainy Thursday night followed by a sunny, breezy day on Friday.

Earlier this week, the forecast showed a rain/snow mix, starting Thursday night and lasting throughout the day on Friday. It would have been the first snowfall in Rhode Island this season.

While the skies will remain flake-free, expect chilly temperatures throughout the rest of the week and weekend. If you still have plants outside, consider bringing them inside, as overnight temperatures could fall as low as 26 degrees on Friday night.

Rain likely, mainly after 5 p.m. Increasing clouds, with a high near 55. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Rain, mainly before 2 a.m. Low around 33. West wind 7 to 13 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Friday
Mostly sunny, with a high near 41. Breezy, with a northwest wind 14 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph.

Mostly clear, with a low around 26. Northwest wind 8 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.
