RI Weather: Rain, High Wind Move In Tuesday Night

High winds and periods of heavy rain are moving in across Rhode Island from Tuesday night until Wednesday morning.

High winds and rain are on the way Tuesday night into Wednesday morning as a large storm moves across the Northeast. A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for Rhode Island, most of Massachusetts and northern Connecticut. Here in Rhode Island, rain is expected during the overnight hours until Wednesday morning, with fog and wind continuing throughout the day.

During the day, wind gusts could reach as high as 3o miles per hour across the state. Between 11 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. Wednesday, between half and one inch of rain is expected to fall.

Tuesday Night
Rain, mainly after 11 p.m. Areas of fog after 2 a.m. Low around 36. East wind 8 to 13 mph becoming north after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Wednesday
Rain likely, mainly before 10 a.m. Areas of fog before 8 a.m. Otherwise, cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 57. Breezy, with a north wind 16 to 20 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Wednesday Night
Mostly clear, with a low around 37. West wind 9 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph.
