
Cox Communications presented $16,000 in scholarships to eight Rhode Island high school seniors during a ceremony at the Rhode Island State House. General Treasurer Gina Raimondo served as the honorary chairperson of the Cox Scholarship Program.
Johanna Lynch of was one of the eight recipients.
Scholarship recipients are chosen based on their outstanding academic achievement; community service; and interest in pursuing a career in the communications, telecommunications, technology or engineering fields. More than ninety scholarship applications were reviewed by a committee comprised of community and business leaders.

The other 2011 Cox Communications scholarship recipients from Rhode Island are: Michael Gabrielle, Westerly High School; Stephen M. Pratt, Coventry High School; Elizabeth A. Saravo, Smithfield High School; David J. Shuckerow, Ponagansett High School; Molly Tortolani, Chariho Regional High School; Sebastian Vergara, Blackstone Academy and Selina Wang, Barrington High School.
“We are committed to making a positive impact in the communities we serve, particularly in supporting the education of our youth,” said Paul Cronin, vice president and general manager, Cox Communications New England. “Through the Cox Scholarship program we hope to play a role in helping these outstanding young people achieve their academic and career goals.”
