Rose: Weaver of Story and Song

Rose Weaver, a Rhode Island icon, will share her remarkable life story as a singer and actress in her exciting talk "Rose: Weaver of Story a

Weaver got her start at the Trinity Repertory Company in the 1970s, where her one woman show on Billie Holiday “Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill” remains the longest running show in Trinity History. She became a tour de force as a vocalist singing Jazz standards at high profile events throughout New England. She spent twenty years in Los Angeles, making films and working in television. Weaver has recently returned to resume her career here in Rhode Island.

Weaver’s talk is part of “Stages of Freedom: Black Performing Arts in Rhode Island” funded by the Rhode Island Council for the Humanities and sponsored by Opera Providence and the Pell Humanities Initiative.
