Secretary Carter will address the first ROTC Yale graduates since the Vietnam era.

NEWPORT R.I.- Secretary of Defense Ash Carter visits the U.S. Naval War College (NWC) and the Naval Underseas Warfare Center (NUWC) in Newport on Wednesday, May 25  during his tour of New England. His primary purpose is to address the first ROTC Yale graduates since the Vietnam era, according to NWC Spokesman Daniel Kuester.

Secretary Carter is scheduled to visit the college first, where he will address the students and faculty. He will then travel to the Warfare Center around noon where scientists and engineers will demonstrate “unmanned surface, undersea and air vehicles, as well as innovative undersea technologies such as biologically-inspired sensors and immersive virtual worlds” the press release states.

Approximately 600 in-person students and 1,000 off-site students graduate from NWC annually. Students have the opportunity to earn either a Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) credit or a master’s degree in National Security and Strategic Studies.
