Severe Thunderstorm, Flood Watches In Effect In Rhode Island
Periods of heavy rain could drop as much as two inches of rain per hour in Rhode Island.
Flash flood and severe thunderstorm watches are in effect across Rhode Island Wednesday afternoon and evening as strong, potentially severe thunderstorms move into the area. The Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency encouraged Rhode Island residents to watch local forecasts closely in case the watch is upgraded to a warning.
The National Weather Service issued the flash flood watch for all of Rhode Island until 11 p.m. on Wednesday. Heavy rainfall could drop as much as two inches of rain per hour on the region. The watch could be upgraded to a warning if the forecast changes.

A severe thunderstorm watch is also in effect across the state from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. Showers and thunderstorms are possible throughout the afternoon and evening hours.
If a street is flooded, never try to drive through, as your car could become stuck. Never drive around posted signs or barriers saying that a road is closed for flooding.
