State Police Arrest Fugitive At Bayside Village Apartments
The Violent Fugitives Task Force arrested Joseph Vincent Louis Berriochoa, 32. of Newport, at Bayside Village at 9:05 a.m. Wednesday.

NEWPORT, RI—The state police and the U.S. Marshals arrested a suspect Wednesday morning at Bayside Apartments. Joseph Vincent Louis Berriochoa, 32. of Newport, was wanted in connection with a June 28 raid at 4 Champlin Place. After neighbors had complained drugs were being sold at the house, police put it under surveillance. Berriochoa and Anthony Cooper were suspected drug. After obtaining a court warrant, officers searched the property. They found a marijuana grow in the basement with high output lights, air circulators, and wired electrical ballasts. The house was deemed unsafe for habitation.
Police seized 16 mature marijuana plants and smaller plants worth $26,000. They also took cocaine worth $6,500, drug paraphernalia and Berriochoa's medical marijuana card. Cooper was arrested during the raid, but Berriochoa wasn't home. The state police Violent Fugitives Task Force and the Marshals banged on his door at Bayside Apartments at 8:30 Wednesday morning.
